Is Palace of Westminster now just 1 more EU Institution of 28 similar?

A speech was made by ECB Chief Mario Draghi to Committees of the French Parliament, its National Assembly, yesterday morning in Paris. It is linked from here and at its end included the following startling passage:

But Banking Union is not the only example of where closer union is needed. Ultimately, the euro area needs to be drawing closer in all fields of economic policy.

The recent call from the leaders of France and Germany for closer economic union shows that this message is being understood. But it is important that form is fully aligned with substance. In my view, a true economic union means three things.

First, it means every country ensuring its national economy functions properly, without external imbalances and high unemployment. We cannot have a strong economic union without strong national economies.

Second, it means transferring some sovereignty over decision-making to the European level – accepting decisions that are made for the good of the euro area as a whole, even if, at that moment in time, individual countries may disagree with them.

Third, it means applying the same rules to all members of monetary union. This is not only a condition of fairness between countries, but also a pre-condition for deeper integration. Only if there is trust that each member will play by the rules can a union of mutual solidarity become possible.

For these reasons, moving towards closer economic union also requires an equivalent deepening of political union. Greater authority at the European level must be matched by greater democratic legitimacy. And here both the European Parliament and national parliaments have a key role to play.

As Herman van Rompuy has reminded us, national parliaments have become EU institutions.

I had missed that earlier quote from Van Rompuy, but no matter, such coming from the head of the power hungry EU Council has come to be expected, from Draghi, delivered to the second most important Parliament within the EU, however, it marks a major turning point.

The riciculousness and pettiness of what the House of Commons has become was well on display throughout yesterday, as may be read in Hansard! After the childish knockabout of PMQs, a statement on spending after the next General Election and some points of order, the day was taken up by the EU project and complete waste of money, the HS2. Read here if you have nothing better to do!

Any with a vote for the UK Parliament has now some serious thinking to do! Arguments that this is merely a Euro Group project will not wash any more!

Are we really going to allow our democracy to be handed over to the likes of these people without complaint or resistance?

In a Karlsruhe Court Euope's Future is being Cast

Germany has conqured Europe once again!

What is now being debated in the Constitutional Court of that once again united and thus newly dangerous country, is whether and how those conquests will be handled and dealt with over the coming years.

The potential for aggression and further oppression is fearfully demonstrated in the sudden closure of the Greek state broadcaster this very week.

Other reporters on this topic have not spelt out this reality quite so clearly, some of that comment, eg from Time and The Economist's Charlemagne, is linked.

The direction of the eventual court ruling, while not due for months, will be likely discernible as the general election campaign, now underway, progresses within Germany.

The leaders of the other EU Member States need to immediately halt their studious pretence of being merely disinterested lookers-on.

All Europeans have a vested interest in the outcome of the daily growing horror now surely plainly discernible to all!

Are we right to fear German Hegemony?

The cover of this week's New Statesman certainly seems to wish to alert its readers and newsstand browsers to such a possibility with this week's edition reproduced here:

The agreed "Conclusions" to the European Council Meeting of last evening, available in pdf format from this link, make absolutely clear how the Teutonic Juggernaut has been able to merely roll over and completely disregard PM David Cameron's pointless attempt to make an impact by removing Britain from the EU "Compact for Growth and Jobs" note this passage from the main summary:

"The European Council had a comprehensive discussion on the economic and social situation and set the orientations for the economic policy of the Member States and the European Union in 2013. The focus should be on the implementation of decisions taken, in particular as regards the Compact for Growth and Jobs."

Note here the melange created amongst the supposed separate and different involvements of the 17 slave-states of the Euro Group, the 26 EU Compact victims and the now apparently irrelevant but actually Treaty defined 27 actual Member States.

The giant corporations that run German industry, having Europe now they clearly believe, fully under their control; are turning their main attentions  elsewhere, witness these three very recent examples of one such, Siemens, interests and influence within the USA:

In Europe of course, Siemens, is one of the more obvious German Giant industrial concerns, as it is for that companies useless High Speed Trains Europeans' countryside is widely being ripped apart at huge cost, for journeys those most affected by the devestation will never be able to afford to make nor have the need so to do. 4G investment would be far better spent but of little return to German heavy industry.

The High Speed rail lines remind me a bit of Roman roads, all leading to the useless and corrupt centre, in the case of the EU Brussels, rather than Rome, not for the use or convenience of the people along the route, but for the rapid movement of the forces necessary to ensure the peoples continued subjugation!

Peter Cook, the Bloomberg interviwer in the latter link, tweeted in advance of his report, if any tweeters had suggested questions for Siemens' Siegel, I suggested he ask whether Siemens were the real victors of World War Two?

I imagine that international consciousness of the fact that water is indirectly delivered from the heavens for free initially prevented the  despots of what became the EU from attempting to tax delivery of that precious and life-giving resource.

The early years of the coming together of Europe's nation states in a progressive community, dedicated to delivering Marxism disguised as the mixed economy, also happened to coincide with the conversion of the northern tier of western European from town gas produced from coal to natural gas tapped, as fresh water often is, from beneath the land and increasingly from beneath the sea.

In even medium-sized British towns, smelly gasworks advertised their presence by large and highly visible gasometers. They were steadily replaced by vans converting every street to North Sea gas. Gas lights spluttered their welcome pools of light every quarter of a mile or so into the Devon countryside as I cycled home from boy scouts, running to a halt when I still had over a mile to continue, with only the stars (unfiltered by any orange sodium glow) and the glow-worms in the high hedgerows to keep me safe from the bogeyman, in whom, of course, I no longer believed

These were the days before even British Gas, itself now supposedly replaced in the public mind by the villainous Centrica whose latest price gouging is neatly encapsulated in the statement that it "raised tariffs 6 percent for around 8.4 million households at the end of 2012. Operating profit for the segment rose 11 percent to £606m."

The Gas Council ran things in those days with some rather quaint financial structures, as I experienced when working for a US oil company developing the North Sea oilfield Beryl.

After leaving the UK in the Wilson/Callaghan years, disgusted at the blatant and deliberate attempt to undermine, if not sabotage, the North Sea oil industry for ruinous point-scoring dressed up as "participation", I spent some time working in the US. Here, my ultimate employer was a natural gas transmission pipeline company, regulated (quite properly) as a public utility, down to the finest detail of our corporate accounts.

Before leaving Britain, I had seen the British Gas Council, in the shape of Sir Denis Rooke, make possible the country's conversion to natural gas to the benefit of the consumer and a maximum return to the oil industry investors of 20 percent AARR, the industry minimum for offshore exploration to be viable. For the last 20 years I have looked on in horror at how this supply of warmth to the cold northernmost countries of Europe has been manipulated to extract revenue in a manner reminiscent of the means by which the euro is now being used to bring austerity to those beyond the reach of such warmth extortion.

In the process, our civil service has been bent to an extent that must have Sir Denis not just turning, but writhing in his grave.

There cannot be a wholesale gas price index set by giants engaged in the business. Only full government right of audit and prohibition of cross-border transfers can achieve what national and EU politicians claim is a regulated market.

This is not some new fact. It has been known and recognised in the US in law for years. There can only be one reason that that is not the case within the EU - companies and/or regulators are making unjustified profits, presumably leading to some individuals somewhere receiving rake-offs.

Last month marked my tenth anniversary with Blogger, now a part of Google. I had of course been digitally trying to impose my views on complete strangers well before that.

A post that somehow best sums up this apparently pointless decade of time wasted at the keyboard, (just as my first blog post was published on Samizdata as linked within the body of the following comment) was strangely also not first published by the now mere subsidiary of Google, but by IB Times last Monday. It is here and covers the Italian election, which seems to indicate it would have been better had I properly grasped that language and continued to blog from there!

Italy at the Polls: Time to Say 'Stop' to Tyranny

On 16 November 2011 an outrage occurred within the European Union, the stain of which may perhaps only now start to be erased by Italian voters this very weekend

The EU, in circumstances which are not yet fully revealed, removed the democratically elected Prime Minister of one of its founding and largest member states, whilst that state was at the forefront of a mounting existential economic crisis. The victim of this Prime Ministerial dismissal, Silvio Berlusconi, has subsequently claimed that the crisis itself was the consequence of the actions of another EU founding member state and/or of the EU Commission itself. It was indeed a former powerful member of that appointed body who stepped into the departing Prime Minister's shoes and governed the country, mostly through similarly appointed apparatchiks.

The individual installed, Mario Monti,and the man he replaced have both faced the Italian electorate this past Sunday in a General Election, where voting continues this morning, with exit polls expected by mid afternoon this Monday. Frontrunner at present is a former Communist, Pier Luigi Bersani, while a large protest vote is expected for dark horse anti-EU candidate and blogger, Beppe Grillo.

Ten years ago, when I felt compelled to begin my own blog because of the non-democratic direction in which the EU was headed and directly owing to clear censorship of its own controlled Europa internet discussion forums, I wrote this commentary, linked here, (co-incidentally enough written from Italy) warning that the member states then framing the new constitutional treaty for the entire EU stood at a crossroads between tyranny and democracy. As we all can now see far too clearly, they lamentably, deliberately, chose the former route.

Replacing the Italian Prime Minister, following on from the horrors in Greece and promissory note deception with Ireland, has been the clearest possible evidence that such a tyrannical course, (as defined by Karl Popper) was indeed the one selected by those in real control of the EU in the intervening decade.

Italy in its elections this weekend has a major opportunity to send a signal that such a course is no longer acceptable to the citizens of twenty-seven once-democratic nations.

As I suggested in my original critique, a way ahead, even in today's excruciating economic and non-democratic aftermath of that particular wrong turn, is still quite possible - thanks mainly to the fantastic democratic opportunities now offered by the internet revolution.

How much longer will these petty tyrants who run the EU close their eyes to the direct democratic example that lies at the heart of their continent? For over one thousand years the Swiss have fine-tuned their division of powers between four linguistic groups and among differing cantons as numerous as the EU's present member states.

As far as humanly possible they have probably achieved in their Constitution a division of power which is as close to perfect as can possibly be attained - yet each day we go about our business in growing chaos as if such an example did not even exist, let alone on(e) in our midst. Matters devolved to the re-affirming member states of a renewed democratic European Union in one pan-EU referendum could thenceforth be determined by direct keyboard vote.

The citizens of Europe are increasingly sickened by both the non-audited corruption in EU expenditure and the non-democratic nature of both the Commission and some of its institutions. The structures and procedures of the so-called Parliament are demeaning, both to Europe's electorate, as evidenced by falling votes, and the calibre of its elected members.

People will rid themselves of such control one way or another - let us hope the Italians, who have much indeed to feel bad about, have shown the rest of us a way ahead in their present General Election.

Well, as all now know, the result made Grillo's party the clear winner and the EU machine is now busily manouevering to neuter the clear will of the Italian people. I will try to resist, but I will probably be here at my keyboard, blogging away as these things unfold - we shall see!

HS2 - The Whole of Westminster is Scared to Cross EU Commission

The Daily Telegraph has an item this morning titled "Minister; high-speed rail is worth the upset" linked here.

What is actually the situation regarding High-Speed Rail, demanded by the EU as part of its grotesque project is the following:

"Britain's entire political class and establishment is scared witless by the EU and will betray the British public at all times merely to try to curry favour!"

If the weather clears at all over this weekend, I will drive south to Brossac some 20 km of my home, to get some photographs of the destruction of the lovely landscape underway around that pretty town, in the hopeless bid to connect Lisbon to Brussels, while planes can make the trip already at a tenth of the time and about one hundredth of the coming cost!

The EU is at risk of earning a reputation as 21st century Vandals, wreaking far greater damage on Aquitaine and continent-wide human suffering than the reputation their namesakes, perhaps wrongly, gained from the Romans.

Some unifying item of outrage is badly needed to bring home to the 500 million people suffering the corruption and ill governance of the EU, how utterly repulsive this project has now become. Could the pointless destruction and huge financial waste involved in High Speed Rail be the spark that re-ignites the flame of freedom and democracy, all across Europe, against this truly sick, secretive and lying institution that has somehow gained unfettered power over us all; but in particular over our lying, power-seeking national politicians such as the completely callous sounding Minister in the article linked above?

Do EUsceptics condemn Europeans to Divisions?

Ten years ago to counter unbelievable pro EU bias in the writings and reports of the Financial Times newspaper, I spent many hours arguing the case against the non-democratic and already obviously potentially tyrannical federalist EU monster. Was Europe Minister MacShane's criminal mindset a job prerequisite?

Former Minister for Europe for the Labour Party is now being investigated by the police for possible criminal charges. Evidence already laid against him which has led to his suspension and resignation from Parliament seems sufficient to send ordinary members of the public to jail.

A more interesting aspect of this everyday story of greedy politicians engaging in day to day fraud and deception is what connection might exist between the necessity for any Minister for Europe in a UK Government to be up to his neck in deception, distortion and who knows what else and his day to day theft over an extended period?

While Minister for Europe, at what became the FCO propaganda office for the EU during MacShane's tenure, he received a letter detailing the lies and trickery dated 19th March 2005, from Anne Palmer, it may be read in full from the archives of Ironies, linked here. I quote its concluding paragraphs:

The EU will disintegrate, whether before the EU constitution is ratified or not remains to be seen, but it will end in terrible bitter conflict. The fault will fall on all those that did not dare to spell out the true meaning of the requirement for a European Constitution.
 While we are busy reducing our forces, the army, navy etc, and while we are eagerly following all EU Regulation re competition, etc, other Countries are not. While we are disarming and reducing our forces, others have conscription and rearming quite strongly. To me it is déjà vu, the 1930’s all over again. All of our Members of Parliament, will have to decide soon, do they want to govern this Country, to actually earn the money the people pay them, or do they want to go down in history as the government that has given this Country away and continue to have laws and an alien constitution foisted upon us, which nothing we can say or do can alter or block them. Or, do we obey our own Constitutional laws we have had in this Country for hundreds of years, even though we have had to fight to keep them rather than be ruled by others in the past, and which we are duty bound to fight to protect and keep. The myths you speak of Sir, are your own, especially ”The Constitutional Treaty is not only a simplification of the existing forest of interlocking Treaties, but encapsulates many of these British themes”. As Minister for Europe, you appear to have forgotten the meaning of a “True Brit”, that is your loss sir, not mine. The chaos that is now unfolding across Europe is partly down to MacShane and all the others like him. That is his and their greater crime. The above letter and the entire archives of my blogs and earlier writings, along with the superb arguments tirelessly presented by Anne Palmer and others like her down the decades, hopefully will eventually serve to prove that these despicable political criminal classes knew exactly what they were about!

ESM Board to launch this vehicle for oppression today

As German Chancellor Merkel, travels to Athens today, to witness first hand the  squalor, human misery and destruction wrought by her policies over the past several years, the ESM, another tool for Germen domination of the European Continent will be inaugaurated in Luxembourg, in accordance with her desires and instructions, as reported here by RTE the Irish Broadcaster, whose ex-country is already entirely controlled by Germany through the same agency at work in Greece, known by the already everywhere reviled tag of "the Troika".

Those who actually control Merkel and the German Constitutional Court, which also appears to have now become their puppet, remain unkown and as yet still hidden from view.

"Sold a Pup" My foot Fox! - We have been deliberately betrayed and sold out!

"Sold a pup" - What a travesty of a description for the treason and deliberate betrayal and trashing of our nation, its democracy and our Parliament. All that underway for decades, due to the conspiracy for self-enrichment of our three main political parties and their most influential senior figures.

Dr Liam Fox, who resigned as Defence Minister in some disgrace, is not the man to lead the country from the shame of this almost certainly treasonable neuteringl of our politics by our politicians, mainly coming from the Conservative Party, over recent decades! The following passage from his speech on that very topic, linked here, proves that point quite convincingly:

.... there remains a strong seam of resentment running through a large part of the British people that they voted for one thing and were delivered into another. Worse, there is a suspicion that those who persuaded them to do so were all too aware of this deception. Not only were they sold a pup but they were intentionally sold a pup. 

So he knows what has happened, describes the resentment caused and then describes the end result as if we had merely been conned by some tawdry prize at a fairground hooplah stall!

No democracy, all our main public utilities in foreign hands and control, no manufacturing industry, North Sea Oil fields depleted and the proceeds from PRT and Royalties disappeared, unable to afford decent defence forces, crumbling schools and hospitals where even the smallest national decisions are made by foreigners in Brussels, and everything of importance to our nation being now subject to German veto! Some pup, what an insult of a speech.

ESM ratification progress towards tyranny!

There was no new firewall, no new funding nor was there any substantive progress on solving the EU's existentialist crisis during the 19th summit held to discuss this ever growing disaster held in Brussels at the dog end of this week.

Progress towards ratification of the "agreements" that will become the chosen instruments of the tyranny now being drawn up by the EU for the soon to be completely crushed and impoverished peoples of Europe, may be seen from page 10 of the EU document linked here. Germany, signed up last night, even though the version agreed had already been changed that day in Brussels, what hope for legality?

Will this be seen as the week Germany's AAA credit rating became at risk?

If the press pronouncements of the past weekend on the subject of the payments agreed to be made to Spain by other countries in the Euro Group are to be believed, then Germany has effectively now given an open-ended commitment to bailout Spain's banking sector which cannot be quantifiable while the extent of the fall in property prices remains unknown.

There are no other countries within the Euro Group with the capability of backing their commitments with hard cash, given the Finnish opposition's declaration that they will require effective collateral, thus increasing the burden on Germany and France. The latter given the results in the first round of the parliamentary elections of yesterday seem to indicate the socialists will have complete control of the country after next Sunday, hastening their own rush towards bankruptcy. The Netherlands remains without a legitimate government until September!

The EFSF and ESM have their own question marks hanging above them, not least the lack of proper ratification of the latter Treaty!

It is of course not just Spain's banks that have cash flow problems. The very autonomous Spanish regions will also soon require huge amounts of German backed and denominated euros, then will come Italy.

Meantime the absence of conditionality for the Spanish rescue seems likely to virtually assure victory for the anti-Troika parties in Greece next Sunday. Cyprus could require its own bailout as early as this week moving yet one more nation from EFSF guarantor to cash recipent.

If Germany wished to destroy the EU it seems to me that they could not have chosen a more certain course than that of the past weekend to achieve that end.

Germany is taking a huge risk, that much is certain, but for what end? It is up to the rest of the EU to now ensure they do not succeed. The euro has become the instrument for the destruction of our democracies, now it is turning on our liberties, only our inner decencies can now be used to restore what has been lost.

Indignados  demonstrating against the Spanish bailouts in Madrid yesterday had their identification documents confiscated, which in this despicable European Union renders them effectively non-people. Is that not evidence enough of where we are heading?

Ponder on what the EU has wrought in that country.

Reflect on the fact that a similar fate will almost inevitably be delivered to your own nation too if you are unlucky enough to reside within the EU.

Then contact your elected representative at your national parliament and demand the withdrawal of your nation state from the EU begins at once.

The terrible toll of the treachery of our politicians.

The figures for the UK’s total European liability, are contained and published in a new report commissioned by the Bruges Group think tank released today:

Titled The UK’s risks and exposure to the European Investment Bank and other European financial mechanisms, Bob Lyddon’s report for the Bruges Group reveals the true extent of the UK’s obligations in respect of the present and future debts of EU institutions including:

• How the Government’s defined position is questionable in law and therefore has led it to underestimate its full potential exposure to EU debt
• That the true extent of the UK’s potential exposure to the EIB, ECB and EFSM (European Financial Stability Mechanism) the debt is €149.2 billion because:
• The ECB is entitled to call upon the Bank of England for up to €50 billion of the UK’s currency reserves. Under Council Regulation 1010/2000 of 8th May 2000, the ECB has the legal right to call on individual member countries’ national reserves (€50 bn in the case of the UK) should the viability of the ECB be at risk.
• The EIB can call upon up to €35.7 billion^[1] from the UK, should it lose money on the loans that it has made to Govts and banks in vulnerable economies such as Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy and Ireland.^[2]
• The UK currently has a €60 billion liability to the European Financial Stabilisation Mechanism (EFSM). This figure could increase if one or more member countries defaults, because the remaining solvent members are required jointly to take on the insolvent member’s debt.
• The UK’s €1.9 billion of paid-in capital to the EIB and a further €1.6 billion to the European Central Bank (lodged to pay the UK’s share of its costs) is also at risk.

This is merely the financial cost and disregards the social costs and absolute betrayal of all that of which our country once held dear and honoured. That treachery may be noted today in France and demonstrated by the fact that their new President, immediately following his being sworn into office, will travel to Berlin to receive his orders from the German Chancellor.

All this while the former independent democratic smaller natiuons right across Europe struggle for their very financial and independent survival, their economies destroyed by the lies and illusions made necessary for the EU to have gained such powers on behalf of its one controlling nation - Germany.

Disgraceful EU flag representing tyranny is flying over Parliament Square

This picture comes from the blog of a Conservative Party MP, Douglas Carswell, one of the more sensible representatives of the Coalition Government.

This dreadful event, symbol of our nation's complete subjugation to this non-democratic and thoroughly corrupt organisation, occurs on the occasion of the State Opening of Parliament by the ruling monarch of our nation, herself now a mere EU citizen, degraded and marginalised by all the Treaties of recent decades going back to the ECA in 1972.

Can France and Britain resume a role in Europe's politics?

That question is considered by Ambrose Evans-Pritchard in his column in the Daily Telegraph this morning, linked here.

In France the columnist expresses hopes but has the following to say on next Sunday's likely Presidential victor:

The Latin Bloc might politely tell Berlin: acquiesce in the new landscape, or expect Latin Europe to take matters into its own hands and bring about the fiscal, monetary, and exchange conditions needed to safeguard its societies - entailing a very nasty shock for German banks and exporters.
No such showdown is about to happen of course. Mr Hollande is an Enarque at heart, easily bidable. He may be fobbed off with a bigger role for the European Investment Bank.

Britain's voters must be wary of falling into a similar trap. While the elections on Thursday are only for local government, in Britain's curious party system politics a complete rejection of the three main parties could bring central government politics to a shuddering halt.

Voters have three more days to look at the state of their country, in every area of life where politicians have a say, then look at what is underway in Europe, where their politicians have no say whatsoever and never will, and then take the necessary action with their vote - after all as a voter YOU are ultimately in charge AND fully repsonsible!

Signs grow stronger that Hollande will smoothly replace Sarkozy as Merkel's poodle!

The removal of the elected government in Holland this week, and its replacement by a caretaker arrangement that rapidly adopted all the EU (Merkel) had demanded of its failed predecessor, has still failed to set off alarm bells across the Continent as of this morning's press and broadcast media reports!

More danger signs come in this report from the Chicago Tribune as to how smoothly Hollande will be likely to fill the underdog pose adopted by President Sarkozy towards growing German authoritarianism. With problems in Hungary and the Czech Republic, over and above those I mentioned in my last post of last evening, it is now impossible to see where resistance to the obviously growing EU tyranny is now likely to be found!

Reports of renewed shelling of civilians by President Assad of Syria this morning must surely make obvious to the worrld that the UN has become a completely useless and worthless organisation - where exactly do the citizens of the EU believe aid will now come to save them from the economic blackmail set to be imposed to achieve the long term objective of an EU non-democratic super state through compulsory fiscal union.

Only by re-invigorating their national parliaments will resistance be possible, in Britain, Simon Hughes should be concentrating his efforts on that, his party also sold out to Murdoch years ago, as evidenced by the appointment of Coulson as Downing Street spokesman for the Coalition Government!

It appears that the sole MP in Westminster on the government benches with a grasp of what is underway is for the moment  Nadine Dorries joined from the opposition benches by Kate Hoey!
