China and Germany plan joint control of Europe

The Irish Times has the story, unusually timelined in the middle of a Sunday morning, linked here. It arrives at a time when the world greets with horror the veto by Russia and China at the UN of a resolution designed to prevent President Assad of Syria from continuing the mass murder of his own citizens. Such is where the EU seeks economic salvation. Some quotes:

This time, Mr Wen urged skeptical Chinese citizens to understand that supporting Europe was in their own benefit
"Now Europe is facing a debt crisis and we must consider relations with Europe strategically to protect our national interests," he said while visiting the export-dependent southern Chinese province of Guangdong.
China, with its $3.2 trillion worth of foreign exchange reserves, is often seen as a potential source for funds needed to bail out some European governments.
The Chinese premier's latest comments on the euro crisis again did not include any specific commitments to European economies. But he stressed the stake that China holds in defusing the euro crisis.
"On the one hand, our biggest export market is Europe," said Mr Wen. "On the other hand, Europe is our biggest source for importing technology. From this perspective, helping to stabilize European markets in fact amounts to helping ourselves. We must make all quarters of society understand this point."

Merkel removes the mask and reaches for a new Reich

The German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, in an interview with six of Europe's newspapers, has revealed her plans to unite Europe under Germany's leadership. How can this be considered anything other than a bid to re-install a new Reich, or even modern day Holy Roman Empire, I do not know!

"My vision is political union, because Europe has to follow its own path. We need to get closer step by step, in all policy areas," Merkel said.
The chancellor's European vision was made public ahead of an summit on Monday where EU leaders are expected to finalise a new treaty aimed at tightening fiscal discipline and deepening economic integration in the eurozone.
Without mentioning federalism, Merkel described a new architecture for Europe where EU institutions have the last word over member states, placing her on a collision course with British Prime Minister David Cameron, who has vetoed attempts to transfer more power to Brussels.
"In the course a long process, we will transfer more powers to the Commission, which will then work as a European government for European competencies," Merkel said.

The reaction from France, where sitting President Sarkozy faces a re-election test in mere months, and has pitched his call to the electorate as based on a merger with Germany, should be most interesting.

Angela Merkel and Christine Lagarde meet to end Greek crisis!

My mother told me when I was a small boy, that if the world was run by women, things would be a lot better. Good job she did not have to live until now!

PM Cameron to attend Berlin Chancellery today!

The headline of the Irish Times this morning, linked here, makes perfectly clear the consequences of subjugating your economy and democracy to Germany. A sensitive document detailing new tax rates from the Irish budget, has been leaked in Berlin, where, of course it first required approval.

Great Britain's Prime Minister 'Vapid Cameron' has been called to Berlin today to receive his latest instructions on how to further bankrupt Britain in pursuit of ever greater and deeper European unity. According to Bruno Waterfield in the Daily Telegraph, linked here, these orders will include secret plans, prepared by the Germans, involving EU Treaty amendments without requiring a British referendum, as if Cameron had ever intended doing anything to the contrary in any event!

Another view of German thinking on the British problem, always an annoyance for pan-European putative dictatorships, may be read in an article in Der Spiegel, linked here, this concludes that Chancellor Merkel needs Cameron to push through her plans for German hegemony - all the more reason for all Britons to bend their efforts to ridding our country of the leadership of this thoroughly odious and totally devious man!

Germany's leader claims Europe in toughest hour since WWII

The report from Reuters is linked here and the quote referred to in my headline is the following:

Merkel dramatized the situation facing the euro zone in an attempt to rally her conservative party behind the government at a congress in Leipzig.
Europe is in one of its toughest, perhaps the toughest hour since World War Two," she told her Christian Democrats (CDU), saying she feared Europe would fail if the euro failed and vowing to do anything to stop this from happening.

In a one-hour address, Merkel called for closer European political union but offered no new ideas for resolving the crisis that has forced bailouts of Greece,Ireland and Portugal, raising fears about the survival of the 17-state currency zone.

Well that may well mean one thing for her German audience, which presumably were driven to be thinking of 1945, BUT for the rest of the Continent it leaves a crucial point hanging unanswered, 1939 might seem more appropriate to them when considering this weekend's overthrow of democratic Governments and the consequent miseries that were then inflicted upon people everywhere.

Merkel has now agreed to meet Sarkozy next Sunday - The Slog reports

Even if this report, mentioned in my headline above, is true, what can happen in the markets over the balance of this week? Earlier we quoted EU Observer who reported the next palnned meeting between these two fumblers, was on October 17 ahead of a routine EU gathering. Elsewhere in The Slog report, linked here, Merkel is reportedly heading off to Brussels today, what can be achieved there is open to much doubt, not least in view of the history of the past 60 odd years!

Papandreou in Berlin today for instructions on next phase of oppression for the Greek people!

The Irish Times has a good report on the planned events in Berlin today, largely ignored elsewhere in the print media. No doubt partly due to Dublin being aware that they are treading the same path as the Greeks, albeit somewhat in arrears (no pun intended!)

Merkel's muddled mindset.

The German Chancellor went on  TV for an hour yesterday and provided zero coherence on the ever growing crisis within the Euro Zone. The report of the interview from Deutsche Welle is linked here, and the following are my chosen quotes indicating the mess that seems to be the Merkel mind:

allowing Greece to default on its debt could trigger a domino effect within the eurozone that would destroy investor confidence in the currency union....

...she would not rule out the possibility that one could manage "the insolvency of a state just like a bank" once the eurozone implements its permanent bailout fund, the European Stability Mechanism, in 2013.

Clearly the EU will be better placed to fight off further insolvencies once the ESM (in the unlikely event it is ever ratified) is in place, but eighteen months ago Merkel and Sarkozy wrongly thought that a combination of the EFSF and the EFSM would be sufficient to fight off a Greek default, later also believing the same could apply for Ireland, Portugal and the second Greek bailout!

Early indications are that Merkel will take a thrashing in local elections!

The center-left Social Democrats (SPD) have demonstrated a commanding lead in local elections in the northeastern Baltic state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with voter turnout at low levels.German broadcaster ARD put the SPD at 37 percent, well above the 30.2 percent they received in the last elections in 2006. German Chancellor Angela Merkel's center-right Christian Democrats (CDU), meanwhile, have reportedly dropped from 28.8 percent in 2006 to 24 percent.

Merkel faces possible defeat in Bundestag this week

At the end of last week the German Chancellor announced that she was cancelling a trip to Russia. This followed a shock statement by the German President that the ECB bond purchases were against the EU Treaties and thus effectively illegal. It is a crucial week for German democracy, and it is only that which now determines how the EU is to proceed. Read AE-P in the Telegraph this morning, from here.

Over many years this blog has been pointing out that the relentless logic of the EU demands that eventually only German voters will decide how the EU develops, the latest of which from last March is linked here, titled "The Mawkish Madness of Mrs Merkel". I hope that new readers are these days more receptive to this point, that should have been plainly obvious at least to our politicians for many, many years!

The only escape from such a nightmare, as will I feel certain become a crucial factor in the upcoming French Presidential elections, is withdrawal from the EU for any country wishing to determine its own course in the world!
