Cameron's "Big Lie" EU Speech One Week On!

After Prime Minister, David Cameron, had finished making his long delayed speech on Britain's future relationship with the European Union, delivered at the Bloomberg TV studios in the City of London this time last week, I concluded it required some careful consideration before reacting. By last weekend I had prepared the following response which I submitted to the International Business Times for their usual publication of such posts. I advised that should this not be published by Wednesday 0900 GMT, the post would be published on Ironies Too, to mark this one week passage by the speech into history.

As I was preparing to post my comment in its original form under the title "Cameron's Proclamation of Continuing Complicity in Corruption" the IB Times duly published my post which is linked from here.

The Mutilation of Morality by Meetings.

The G8 leaders moved on from Camp David near Washington DC at the weekend to re-gather in Chicago as heads of NATO, with those from the EU re-convening in Brussels on Wednesday. Their lying and therefore meaningless manifestos and deceitful declarations cannot obscure the realities. On Afghanistan the NATO declaration avers that they will leave Afghanistan as one while all nevertheless accept that France will now precede them some two years ahead, merely one small example of their presently institutionalised duplicity!

The founding principles of NATO were the mutual self-defence of the founding principles of "WESTERN DEMOCRACY". Such founding principles were broken when NATO entered Afghanistan and continue to be trampled upon on every day the troops remain there.

The marching of high ranking uniformed representatives before the assembled mental pygmies and devious charlatans among the NATO leaders, who have jointly already degraded the aims of the organisation they are now in the process of destroying, with the bugle playing of compositions properly best reserved for solemn memorial occasions, merely makes the inevitable meaningless posturing, guaranteed to follow, ever more obscene.

The regular cycle of democracy that these countries once recently shared was formed as a result of the movement of the currents and maritime atmospheric pressure systems over the North Atlantic. The communities that then formed along the western seaboard of the North Atlantic, well before the invasions from the North and East by Belgae, Franks, Saxons, Suevi, Vikings etc., could allow the best of their societies to travel within the natural rythms of the ocean's cycles while leaving others at home, secure within the democratic cycles only their strongest leaders could enforce. No history books yet exist to confirm this as fact, (although continuing archaeology makes it ever more likely,) yet it is something I know within my blood and bones. Naturally it therefore predates the Romans making the professed objectives of the present EU ever more absurd and incomprehensible!

This democracy lay to the WEST of the majority of people in Europe, hence our shorthand use of the word for all that we hold dear and still seek to protect.

It is those principles of the West that are being betrayed in the never ending cycle of meetings of our supposed democratic representatives, discussing but never grasping the essentials of Europe's economic crisis, exemplified for the moment most clearly in Spain and brought about by the absence of any moral compass among those who profess to lead us.

America Abandons Europe

Sixty-one years to this day since the film clip that follows was made, the US Secretary for Defence, Robert Gates, now retiring having served under both George Bush and Barak Obama, has given notice that the US can no longer work alongside its European Allies, who now apparently show no concern for their own proper defence. The report is in the EU Observer this morning, linked here, and the most telling quote from the speech is quoted under the video:

"The blunt reality is that there will be dwindling appetite and patience in the US Congress – and in the American body politic writ large – to expend increasingly precious funds on behalf of nations that are apparently unwilling to devote the necessary resources or make the necessary changes to be serious and capable partners in their own defence."

Unspoken is the obvious inference, that the countries of Europe, having abandoned democracy, are no longer fit partners in the defence of Liberty. Worse if the Greek default continues to be deferred, and reality therefore remains ignored by the EU powers that be, the almost certain outcome will be widespread civil unrest resulting in an end result as awful as a return to the horrors of the Mussolini and Hitler tyrannies!

Europe's former nations stand on the brink of chaos, yet their leaders concern themselves with trifles!

The importance that I attach to the grave warning this speech contains has prompted me to also post it on the Orphans of Liberty blog, so that it hopefully reaches a wider audience.

How Germany's Euro economic angst could disturb strategic considerations.

There is a very interesting report on EurActiv, linked here, titled Central European fears and the German 'question mark' which concludes with the following paragraphs:

The lack of guarantees extends beyond the American obsession with the Middle East. Central Europeans are having difficulty finding another Western European power, outside of Sweden, with an ear for their security concerns. They feel they need to counter Russia on their own, with limited backup.

There is always Germany, which Central Europeans should theoretically be able to turn to for support. At least on paper, Berlin is an EU and NATO ally. However, specific to the Central European fears — and a reality that is rarely spoken publicly in Central Europe — is the fact that Germany is becoming unhinged from the Cold War-era institutions.

Russia may be the obvious security threat, but it is Germany's evolving role — and, crucially, its warming relations with Moscow — that troubles Warsaw and other Central European capitals, most precisely because it is unclear which way Berlin is heading. Or, as Araud put it in 2007, Germany may have been 'America's model ally' during the Cold War, but it is quickly becoming a 'question mark'.

The mis-governance in the economic sphere now evident on both sides of the Atlantic will become ever more dangerous when such stunning incompetence is seen to spread to more critical areas of concern!

Obama in Strasbourg - a blind eye to putative tyranny

The speech by President Obama to an audience consisting mainly of students and dubbed as 'town hall style' with time for questions at the end was in most parts a brilliant demonstration of the new President's grasp of detail and oratorical gifts. If you missed it try and find an online version to watch on video, a link to the Washington Post gives the written version from here. Many might consider these two paragraphs as the grist of the message for Europe when he actually spoke of the Nato Alliance which celebrates its 60th anniversary today: In America, there's a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.

But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad.

There could, however, be another passage which might be remembered by history as of far greater significance and it is this: We take for granted the peace of a Europe that's united, but for centuries Strasbourg has been attacked and occupied and claimed by the warring nations of this continent. Now, today in this city, the presence of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe stand as symbols of a Europe that is united, peaceful and free. (Applause.) It is one thing for the military minds in the Pentagon to allow strategic and military considerations to override the realities of democratic legitimacy as I discussed on this blog yesterday, linked here, but it is quite another for a recently elected new President of the USA and himself the head of a party bearing the proud name "Democrats", especially one so well-informed on a multitude of details about the world and its present parlous state, to turn a blind eye to the potentially tyrannical structure of the Strasbourg Parliament that he here extolled! The oft repeated claim that the EU brought peace to Europe is a blatant lie. The forerunners to the EU were merely discussing wine lakes and butter mountains while the real work was undertaken elsewhere. The USA has of necessity always been somewhat selective in picking allies with regimes lacking the basics of democracy, particularly in the second half of the last century in South America. It is distressing, to say the least, to find a new President, celebrating the 60 birthday of the organisation that truly has brought peace to the world, turn his back on the democratic aspirations of some half a billion Europeans! We must hope common sense prevails and that in the coming days, hopefully this weekend in Prague, President Obama will acknowledge the democratic deficit that increases each day within the EU and not turn a blind eye as was done in the 1930s with such horrific costs!

NATO, intra- EU military intrusions and the Czech crisis.

From the low farce of the G20 meeting in London we must turn our attention today to the NATO Strasbourg meeting and other matters of reality and substance. France has re-joined the integrated Nato military command a plan that has clearly been under consideration for some considerable time as the changeover of French trainee fighter pilots to English at the start of the year clearly demonstrates. Will this strengthen Nato or the EU as the main European defence force - I fear the latter. The Pentagon must see a combined EU defence force as a military convenience and a strategic desirability. Hence the danger of the apparent inconsequence of the loss of European democracy! Which brings us to the sudden release of agreements covering armed military units deployed in other EU states and the crisis in the Czech Republic (presently holding the rotating EU Presidency and the key to the EU Lisbon Treaty, lest we forget) please read all my posts of yesterday,particularly the one linked here, for background and other links. Why did President Sarkozy make mention of the Renault factory in the Czech Republic in his car manufacturers bail-out plan for France (read here and here)? Given the hysteria sweeping the corridors of power in the EU and the barely hidden plans to replace the elected representatives with a government of appointees in the Czech Republic, long enough presumably to ratify the Lisbon Treaty and to pass the military agreements which will permit (possibly retroactively) the exertion of military muscle, could the answer perhaps be that public opinion in the nations that may be called upon to supply such military muscle has to be turned against the Czechs? Impossible? Then this sudden announcement reported from the South Devon Herald Express would have to be pure co-incidence:

AVX staff in Paignton received 90 days' notice on Monday, with the American company opting to decamp its manufacturing interests to the Czech Republic where labour costs are cheaper.

Union representatives had thought they were going to discuss wage increases when called in by bosses, so the bad news was a major shock.

Surely European history is not about to be repeated and the Czech people sacrificed in the name of a false peace on the altar of advancing totalitarianism - if so the hypocrites who signed this letter to The Times this week claiming the EU as a bringer of peace and this broadcast statement by Martin Schulz, linked here will be more quickly exposed than ever seemed possible

What can be done? The Irish now hold the key! Will they actually sign the military agreements, even with the extensive opt outs they have obtained, surely these are unacceptable assaults on their much valued neutrality? If they do nothing now and with their credit rating already reduced this week the pressure to go along with such ploys must be excruciating, if they let the EU have their way then surely we are all 500 million of us doomed for Lisbon to be so desired by those in such power it must hold many more as yet unseen horrors. Ireland's leaders must step up now and clearly state that the second referendum will not proceed. A golden opportunity has been presented by Liberal MEP Andrew Duff, who was one of three charged with including the Irish guarantees in the Croatian Accession Treaty who has declared such a move as legally impossible, read here. Come On Leaders of Ireland the Democrats of Europe now depend upon YOU!! (Update 0905 GMT. Since posting the above I have come across an Oped in the Wall Street Journal, linked here, by the former Czech Prime Minister, Mirek Topalanek, which is worth reading in full, if that is not possible then this quote is noteworthy: I have personally experienced what the promises "voluntary membership," "fraternal help," and a "temporary stay" of the Warsaw Pact troops meant: forced dictatorship, violent occupation, and unlimited intimidation. From my perspective, the importance of U.S. input in NATO does not lie so much in the force of the first nuclear superpower, but rather in the ethos of supranational responsibility for democracy with which the U.S. soldiers disembarked in Normandy, or dropped food on West Berlin for its inhabitants. Hear, hear indeed but let us not forget Canada and Norway too, other democracies still as yet beyond the manipulations of the increasingly grotesque EU!)

The end of Nato as we have known it

Gawain Towler, former powerhouse of the satirical Brussels based magazine 'The Sprout' was forced to quit open blogging when he became associated with the UKIP. The blog England Expects was always insightful but lacked a certain cutting edge due to the anonymous nature of the blogger behind.
