Lagarde and Schauble take opposing sides on Greece

The deadline for nominations for the next head of the IMF falls tomorrow.

Christine Lagarde, canvassing votes in China, was finally pinned down by Bloomberg TV to comment on the Greek tragedy. What she said directly contradicted what Wolfgang Schauble, her German opposite number in her present position, had laid out in his leaked letter of yesterday. A report is here.

Will the EU's common stand on the next IMF head last through tomorrow's deadline?

Friday is brewing up to be an interesting day!
