Fragmenation nears! Der Spiegel searches for some truth behind EFSF rumours.

The latest Der Spiegel article seeking to throw some light on what the EFSF is likely to become offers little information, other perhaps than that ahead of tomorrow's Bundestag vote noobody is prepared to say anything useful. Read it here, the following are the concluding paragraphs:

Clarity on the euro zone's plans is not likely to come soon, despite a Wednesday warning from European Central Bank head Jean-Claude Trichet that "now is the time for effective action, implementation, verbal discipline and a stronger team spirit." Several more member states must still approve the EFSF and the process isn't expected to be completed until the second half of October.
And once it is, there are, it would seem, several more questions to be addressed. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso hinted as much during his state of the union speech on Wednesday morning.
"If we do not move forward with more unification, we will suffer more fragmentation," he said in Brussels. "I think this is going to be a baptism of fire for a whole generation."

Fragmentation, there's that word, used often on this blog to describe what will inevitably be the follow-up to the EU, read here. Do not imagine for one moment that after this monumental failure, countries will quietly and automatically slip back behind their pre-Common Market borders, the mess unleashed is far too severe for that kind of simplicity - fragmenation has always been the risk, it is a pity the federalists would not accept repeated warnings as issued from these pages and elsewhere down the years.

If Scotland splits off and the EU fragments - Who can be English?

Today I feel compelled to raise two apparently entirely different matters, the connection of which only hit me right between the eyes this sunny Sunday morning.

The first was a post on Orphans of Liberty , with perhaps the best blog posting title of all time by a poster named, Quiet_Man, it is "♫ How do you solve a problem like shariah ♫",  linked here.

The second is a report from EU Observer, which I first read last week, and have been chewing on its implications ever since. This is titled "Anti-racism campaigners slam Finnish colour-coded ID cards" which contains this image:

I have blogged in the past on the likely outcome of the EU collapse as being fragmentation, some of which posts may be read from this link,  now we have this evidence that the implications of the problems that such a break up will cause are beginning to be considered in some of the former nation states.

I continue to believe that the Scot's independence is only economically feasible within the structures of a continuing EU, (read more here and here) but were they to gain separation, our British birthrights would thereby become meaningless and those of us with generations of living within the English portion of Great Britain, would presumably have the right to decide who has a right to English nationality, residence and work, and more tellingly who does not!

The scenario spelt out in the preceding paragraph is clearly a potential nightmare with endless opportunities for bloody conflicts. That is the true horror of what the EU has wrought, through its deliberate flouting of both democracy and decency!

The discussion thread on the posting on shariah law, linked above, visibly illustrates the depths of the disaster our membership of the EU has delivered, not just economic ruin, but the destruction of the very foundations of the nationhood that once stood surety for our liberty, security and rights!

Fragmentation - UN's highest court opines Kosovan Independence as "Legal";;;; Isle of Wight next perhaps.

A quote: Reading the nonbinding opinion, whose political consequences could reverberate far beyond Kosovo, Hisashi Owada, president of the International Court of Justice, said that international law contained no “prohibition on declarations of independence” and consequently that Kosovo’s declaration “did not violate international law.” Great news for the many individual parts of the ex-Nations of the EU., but not for peace!

The poison from Political Parties.

Any rational person, watching the proceedings during Prime Minister Questions and the Budget Statement that immediately followed in the chamber of the House of Commons in Westminster yesterday afternoon, who was aware of the realities regarding the governance of the former nation of Great Britain and the true state of its economy, could only conclude that the only proper place for those participating in such a farcical scam would be jail. Party politics, as developed in the Constitutional Democracy that governed the independent sovereign state which was Great Britain and Northern Ireland, up until the enactment of the European Communities Act in 1972, delivered a form of alternating party democracy to the nation which served it well and thus compensated for the non-democratic features essential in a whipped parliamentary system. In the "post-democratic" era (a phrase tellingly now in frequent usage within the EU) the party system sends only corrupt individuals to Government or other positions of power, as no person with honour or integrity would demean themselves by joining the thoroughly rotten political parties who control all access to such positions of power, whether within Westminster or the EU. Only the electorate can address this problem by refusing to vote for any candidate from the three main parties in the forthcoming election. A system of direct democracy along Swiss lines might give hope that the deep sickness in Britain's system might eventually be turned around. Fragmentation or worldwide totalitarianism will be the alternative non-democratic outcomes.

Globalisation or Fragmentation!

I hope my readers have a happier 2010 than I can presently possibly envisage for them. The referendum called by Iceland's President on his country's individual citizens having to accept liability for their nation's incredible debt is a grim warning for us all on what now lies ahead. The West's major currencies have been trashed by self-serving and often corrupt politicians desperate to spend ever more in a thoughtless pursuit of the continuance of their positions for what appears the sole primary purpose of maximising their perks and pensions. This seems particularly true of UK parliamentarians and almost all in the employ or "supposed service" of the EU. Gordon Brown and his now apparently bullied and servile cabinet think nothing of committing ever more fantastic sums in pursuit of projects they have no potential to ever see completed. The EU with no responsibility for raising the funds it blithely commits for its scary social schemes and restrictive legislation now possesses a President who appears intent on going even further in this clearly wrongheaded direction. Western currencies are becoming ever more worthless as those responsible for their expenditure become ever less accountable to the small property owners who will eventually, I believe, stubbornly refuse to support committing their hard earned savings to the sewer. Iceland will be a beacon of hope as this New Year begins. Maintaining an ever more global monetary means of exchange and commerce will require pan-totalitarianism. The likely alternative of unplanned national fragmentation already largely accomplished in Belgium and well underway in the U.K., is scary but might carry the best chance for future individual liberties. (A shorter comment to this effect on a news item on the Iceland crisis was rejected for publication by the online edition of the London Times yesterday. I thought the point should be aired somewhere, hence this rare post).
