Finland will be contributing to international politics on automatic pilot or something of the kind until such time as the country has a new functional government.
The Finnish diplomats in Brussels stress that all things are being taken care of. The civil servants are doing their jobs and the caretaker government will also handle all topical matters.
The European Union member-states’ Ministers of Defence, Ministers of Agriculture, Ministers of Justice, and Ministers of the Interior have all assembled during this week.
Finland attended the NATO meeting, where the defence ministers discussed the Afghanistan issue.

All long-term projects - such as for example Finland’s attempt to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in 2013 - will continue under their own steam.

True Finns take it to the wire

"Discussions have been held and Katainen will draw his conclusions tomorrow," said Soini after the talks, which ended in the afternoon.
He refused to speculate on what those conclusions would be or whether the True Finns might after all enter government negotiations.
"He knows our positions. This has been negotiated for many weeks," noted Soini. "He'll see tomorrow how he can proceed."

Soini stands firm on EU Policies

Soini said that True Finns will oppose the loan to Greece both in parliament’s Grand Committee, where it will be presented on Friday, and in any vote in the main chamber of parliament. He emphasised that his biggest hope was that Finland’s Euopean policy would change direction, and that elements of the Centre party had contacted him to express their approval of his intransigent line on EU bailouts.

Euro Crisis deepens as Finland requires True Finns' participation in forming a Government

An interesting development this evening in the collapse of the Euro, and therefore the EU, as presently constructed, comes in various reports from Finland, of which one in English is here.

Timo Soini's True Finns party has been climbing in the polls since their stunning result in the Finnish General Elections. Since then a typically degrading EU ploy was employed in their country and parliament, to defeat the verdict of the electorate, and permit the commitment of further taxpayers funds to yet another bail out, this time for Portugal.

Bloomberg has just issued a more detailed report, linked here, which explains that only three days remain for the EU controlled clone Katainen, (who stage managed the vote for Portugal) to form a government, failing that, other parties who presently seem prepared to make a stand against the Finns being fleeced any longer, will take charge.

Greece and Finland, at opposite ends of the EU, now seem to have the corrupt elite that are the controllers of this sordid mess, caught in a pincer movement, all Europeans must hope they can crack this nut so that we all can make a fresh beginning, no matter what the immediate economic difficulties!

Spineless Worm taunt in Finnish debate on latest EU Bail Out

 A good description of most of Britain's Parliamentarians (see our earlier posts on events in Westminster yesterday) was used in Finland's Parliament as the EU trampled upon another once Sovereign Parliament thanks to the treachery of the elected "so-called" representatives. I quote, from here:


“Spineless worm”
The True Finns Party chair Timo Soini sharply criticised the Portugal package during Tuesday’s debates.
He suggested that the parliament should not approve the package, but instead allocate the funds to help Finns in financial difficulties. According to Soini, the rescue packages for Greece, Ireland and Portugal do not help those countries’ people.
Soini lashed out both at the parties that had handled the issue and the ones who supported the bailout. He aimed particular criticism at the Green League and the Left Alliance.
Soini called the Left Alliance a spineless worm, among other things, and reminded the party that a negative position would not be possible for them as a government party once another bailout request rolled around.
The Left Alliance’s chair Paavo Arhinmäki countered that the party stands staunchly by its election promises.
“We are trying. We’re not that spineless worm that burrows into the ground at the first sight of difficulty and tries to hide from the situation,” Arhinmäki said. 

The package is voted upon today, and will probably pass following the various manipulations over whether it is a matter for the last Parliament or the next.

What a shameful state Europe is in! Meantime Mme Christine Lagarde has launched her attempt to be next IMF Managing Director, it would be a shameless world that appointed her!

It comes to something when even the BBC notices something is wrong, read from here. Although the comment titled "The people versus a European elite" seems prompted by two US commentators as quoted below:

Writing in the New York Times, Ross Douthat notes the "crisis of the European dream - the vision of a continent without borders or divisions, supervised by a benevolent and cosmopolitan elite".

But perhaps the most serious criticism of Europe's elite relates to their handling of the crisis in the eurozone.
They have insisted that the only way forward is slashing spending and reducing deficits. But the strategy divides opinion. The economist Paul Krugman notes that "objections that these programs would be self-defeating - not only would they impose large direct pain, but they also would, by worsening the economic slump, reduce revenues - were waved away."

Bloody odd, is it not that the BBC Europe Editor, has to rely on US sources to report on the real events and popular feeling in the area which he supposedly covers? The BBC should repay the supposed "loans" received from the EU and begin putting some proper reporters on the job. Ambrose Evans-Pritchard seems to have gone missing from the Telegraph stable of late, how about him?

Finagling Finns Dirty their own Democracy!

An English language report on the unusual nature of events, scheduled to take place this afternoon in the Finnish Parliament, from Helsinki, may be read from here.

Note some of the grotesque gyrations the Finns are now going through, in order to provide Portugal with an EU bail out, which will assuredly prove as useless as that given to Greece one year ago. All quotes come from the linked article:

Soini, whose party opposes the bailout package, promised that his ten-minute speech “will not disappoint”.

One of the issues that Soini planned to touch upon is the morality of the process.
A decision on the bailout question will be made by the new Parliament, but it is being presented to Parliament by the old government, which is still in office in a caretaker capacity as negotiations on the formation of a new coalition are going on.....

An unusual aspect of the process is that the it includes a Parliamentary vote of confidence in a government that will soon leave office....

The Social Democratic Party, which previously opposed EU subsidies for Portugal, now supports the package.

The rest of the anti-EU parties across the EU must follow the example of the True Finns and begin to speak out about the true evil underway on the Continent of Europe? Just as True Finn Leader Timo Soini, had the courage to do in the Wall Street Journal, last week, linked once again from here.

The Brussels-Frankfurt Extortion Racket by Timo Soini

The op-ed column by the Chairman of the True Finns party is the most read of the week in the Wall Street Journal, according to reports from Finland.

The opinion piece that appeared last Monday in the world renowned WSJ,  blasts the Euro elites for their callous disregard of the people of Europe, and may be read in full from here. Among the noteworthy quotes that most struck this reviewer are these:

It is not the little guy who benefits. He is being milked and lied to in order to keep the insolvent system running. He is paid less and taxed more to provide the money needed to keep this Ponzi scheme going.....

Ireland was forced to take the money. The same happened to Portugal.

Why did the Brussels-Frankfurt extortion racket force these countries to accept the money along with "recovery" plans that would inevitably fail? Because they needed to please the tax-guzzling banks, which might otherwise refuse to turn up at the next Spanish, Belgian, Italian or even French bond auction......

This is not just about economics. People feel betrayed. In Ireland, the incoming parties to the new government promised to hold senior bondholders responsible, but under pressure they succumbed, leaving their voters with a sense of disenfranchisement. The elites in Brussels have said that Finland must honor its commitments to its European partners, but Brussels is silent on whether national politicians should honor their commitments to their own voters.....

I was raised to know that genocidal war must never again be visited on our continent and I came to understand the values and principles that originally motivated the establishment of what became the European Union. This Europe, this vision, was one that offered the people of Finland and all of Europe the gift of peace founded on democracy, freedom and justice. This is a Europe worth having, so it is with great distress that I see this project being put in jeopardy by a political elite who would sacrifice the interests of Europe's ordinary people in order to protect certain corporate interests.
