Britain's relations with the EU following Brixit

The EUCO yesterday issued a report on its relations with what remains of EFTA, the once British led group of free trading sovereign nations that unsuccessfully fought to fight back the corporatism, restrictive trading and coercive arm-twisting practices of the entity that has today become the EU, as so fittingly illustrated by this picture available on Twitter last evening.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office under William Hague should be preparing the strategy for our once-again independent and sovereign nation after we are free of the restraints of the EU. Rejoining EFTA, should be one option presuming we would be invited and welcomed.

In this blog's view bruised feelings on the Continent would be likely to last for some considerable time, and that diplomatic efforts on EU relations during that early period would be largely wasted, not least as other national exits would almost certainly follow.

Britain's most prosperous periods of history were those when our foreign policy acted as though Europe barely existed, but was an unhappily placed lump of land, with often fractious inhabitants, making a long circumnavigation to our markets a necessity. Thus we broke free of the ties, burdens and wars resulting from our flirtations with the Hanseatic League, freed by the bravery and exploits of the first Elizabethan Merchant Adventurers. 

Such is the spirit we need today, EFTA can wait!

The Sickest Story, so far, for this Sorry Century

A sight to shame every living European! 

     The leaders and titular heads of the destroyers of our democracies and much normal human decency, parade the Nobel Peace Prize, incredibly awarded by non-EU Norway to the bureaucratic unfeeling giant bureaucracy that is the real EU, just at the moment when their greed driven drive to sew disharmony across our Continent appears to be reaching its apogee.

Van Rompuy gloats as Europe is stripped of democracy!

The following Tweet was sent out this afternoon by the eppointed President of the European Council, presently employed in destroying democracy in every last corner of the vast territories now controlled by the bankupt, financially and morally, European Union:

The Greek EU Commissioner in the meantime  was openly talking of Greece leaving the eurozone and mass demonstrations across the country reflect the rift between the political parties indicating no new bail out pretence will be possible.

EU President Van Rompuy lies yet again!

The following is from the regular newsletter from Roger Helmer MEP (Conservative), received this morning:

A preposterous and deliberate lie

(April 5th): I've just got back from a plenary session where Council President ("all the charisma of a wet rag") Rumpy Pumpy, came out with a proposition which fairly took my breath away.  Recounting the EU's recent achievements, he said "The EU moved decisively on the Libyan problem.  But for prompt EU intervention, there would have been a massacre in Benghazi".   Honest.  I'm not making this up.

It may be unparliamentary language, but I was so shocked I shouted "Liar" at the top of my voice.  The Libya initiative was a bilateral, intergovern­men­t­al deal between Cameron and Sarkozy, who managed to bring in a (rather reluctant) president Obama, plus NATO and the UN.  It had nothing to do with Brussels.  To describe this as "prompt EU intervention" is beyond parody.  But it gives a chilling insight into the Brussels mindset.

 

EU offers suzerainty to China in bid to save its stricken currency.

The depths to which the leaders of the EU will sink in their attempts to save the wretched euro currency which they see as the salvation of their anti-democratic project seem to know no bounds. Perhaps it is the very nature of their own secret ambitions for total autocratic control that allows them to turn a blind eye to the realities of the Chinese regime, read here.

An article by Patience Wheatcroft in the Wall Street Journal linked here, paints the picture of the reality of the direction of the EU under its new Punch and Judy leadership made possible through the abhorrent Lisbon Treaty. Who are the Punch and Judy I have in mind? Why of course none other than EU Council President, Herman Van Rompuy and the EU High Representative, Baroness Ashton.  A pair unfit for any public role except perhaps than in a canvas stall on a beach or as bit players of animal parts in a more seasonal pantomime.

Van Rompuy asserts claiming independent national survival is possible is a lie.

The power-crazed EU Council President has really shot himself in the foot this time. The Belgian was speaking at a grandly titled first annual "Europe Address" in Berlin on Tuesday, the skimped Deutshe Welle report may be read from here. The remarks DW excluded were nevertheless picked up by EU Observer and the Irish Times. These reports contained the following complete and utter garbage, Irish Times version first:

In a speech last night in Berlin in which he argued against protectionist tendencies, he made the case that there were people in every member state who believed their own countries could survive alone in the globalised world.

“It is more than an illusion: it is a lie,” he said as he cited Franklin Roosevelt’s expression that the only thing to fear was fear itself.

“The biggest enemy of Europe today is fear. Fear leads to egoism, egoism leads to nationalism and nationalism leads to war.”

He said today’s nationalism was not a positive feeling of pride in one’s identity but a negative feeling of apprehension to others.

“Fear of enemies within our borders and beyond our borders, it is a feeling all over Europe, not of a majority, but everywhere present.” The EU was born out of a will to co-operate, reconcile and to act in solidarity, he said.

“Fear is the source of immobility, of a lack of ambition, or worse, of protectionism, in Europe and globally. Those who are afraid of the loss of jobs and prosperity will thus create precisely what they wanted to avoid.” Mr Van Rompuy also made the case against renewed institutional debate in the EU as its leaders discuss “limited” treaty change to create permanent rescue measures for euro zone countries.

The EU Observer report quotes it somewhat differently as follows: "We have together to fight the danger of a new euro-scepticism," he said in a speech in Berlin on Tuesday night (9 November).

"This is no longer the monopoly of a few countries. In every member state, there are people who believe their country can survive alone in the globalised world," he continued.

"It is more than an illusion: it is a lie!"

The president was speaking in the German capital on the Schicksalstag, or 'fateful day,' the anniversary of five pivotal events in the nation's history: the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and the fall of the monarchy in 1918, but also the Beer Hall Putsch in 1923, Kristallnacht in 1938 and the execution of a leader of the 1848 revolutions in the German states.

Quoting wartime US president Franklin Roosevelt, he said that the "biggest enemy of Europe today is fear," and that this ultimately could lead to war.

"Fear leads to egoism, egoism leads to nationalism, and nationalism leads to war," he said. "Today's nationalism is often not a positive feeling of pride of one's own identity, but a negative feeling of apprehension of the others. Fear of 'enemies' within our borders and beyond our borders."

"It is a feeling all over Europe, not of a majority, but everywhere present."

That survival as an independent sovereign state is a "lie" will surely come as a surprise to the multitude of such states who together form the United Nations! Van Rompuy is however right to talk of fear mounting within every former country of the EU, it is the fear of the post-Lisbon EU, that non-democratic monster which we have created in our midst, bankrupting its member states, corruptly continuing unaudited for the 16th consecutive year and headed by an 'appointed man' who cuts a figure of complete ridicule as he endeavours to gain a disinterested world's attention.

My Precious - Van Rompuy's Quest for EU Economic Governance

Does the above perhaps remind you of somebody? A suggestion: No Halloween costume really required for EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy, who now prepares to completely neuter 26 sovereign parliaments and their entirely bought-off but presently elected members! The first video above comes from Halloween evening 2010! Germany's Bundestag will of course rule supreme if this initiative proceeds, but why should it not if all others choose so to sell their own indepenence? This blog will continue to cover this disgusting spectacle, as it can and as it slowly unfolds. Thank God we have such a man to lead us!

We Europeans are really lucky that we have thrown away our democracies and the powers of our 27 once democratically elected parliaments to be led by such a towering figure at this time of International Economic Crisis. Lucky too that his Vice-President from Luxembourg could so easily divert us from the grave economic problems facing the world..... especially severe for the "once upon a time" former sovereign countries of Europe!
