Finally a Labour Party Resignation - but only an ex-MP!!

The members of this disgusting government have uttered not one word of protest at what is afoot in their country and now being spread across the world by Reuters, read here. One ex-MP has resigned in disgust, Alice Mahon has departed the scumbag led disgrace to democracy that the Labour Party has become stating in her resignation letter: "This has been a difficult decision to take as I feel I was almost born into the Labour Party. However, I can no longer be a member of a party that at the leadership level has betrayed many of the values and principles that inspired me as a teenager to join." According to a report in the Daily Telegraph she also told Sky News: "I've reached the end of the road with the Labour Party. I've lost faith in the Government and the direction they are taking us in. I did hope, as did many party members, that we would get a change of direction if we got a new leadership. Unfortunately I could not have been more wrong." Incredibly not one single member of Brown's administration, even in junior positions has uttered a word of protest that I can find.

McBride's Media Assets must be exposed and removed.

Alice Miles writing in The Times this morning, linked here, takes up this blog's theme of the culpability of the media in the now widely acknowledged fatal poisoning of Britain's political processes, read here and here. I quote from her article in the The Times, but add my own emphasis: The keys to the system are held by journalists. It is only through the collusion of journalists that underhand and anonymous attacks on political colleagues can have any effect.

The media are all chorusing now: we knew, we called him McNasty and McPoison, we had nothing to do with him, he sent us foul messages, we didn’t like him. But the point is, we did know. We may not have known the detail of the nasty smears about senior Conservatives that Mr McBride was dreaming up, but we knew about the smears against his own side. We knew what he was up to, and we knew that he was being paid more than £100,000 a year of public money to do it – and we did nothing to stop it.

Many are guilty but the main culprits are undoubtedly at the heart of the organisation that is now the State Controlled Broadcaster, still calling itself the BBC but bearing no resemlance to that once august institution, which has led the way and set the tone.

The following is the last part of a letter sent to the Cabinet Secretary by Francis Maude and made public, in full here:

7. In the case of Mr Tom Watson, who is both Minister for the Civil Service and Minister for Digital Engagement, did he have any knowledge of or involvement in the Red Rag website? Are you satisfied that he has complied fully with the Ministerial Code, given that he was referred to in one of the e-mails published yesterday? What action have you taken to assure yourself that this is the case?

8. What action are you taking to find out if the e-mails sent by Damian McBride are part of a broader pattern of activity by other Special Advisers, and if there are similar initiatives involving either officials in Downing Street or Ministers or Special Advisers elsewhere in the Government?

As I am sure you are aware, this affair raises broader concerns about the degree to which a government which has been in office for twelve years thinks it can simply ignore the rules, and the extent to which the Code of Conduct for Special Advisers — as well as the Ministerial Code -are being properly upheld. These concerns will only grow as we approach the forthcoming General Election. I would therefore be grateful to know what action you are taking to ensure that the relevant codes are being rigorously enforced, and to reassure both the Conservative Party -and the other opposition parties — that there neither are nor will be any similar initiatives from within the British Government, either now or in the future.

Given the public interest in this matter, I am releasing this letter to the Press.

All Mainstream Media are culpable in Brown's poisoning of society

Rachel Sylvester writing in The Times this morning states the following: There have for years been political assassinations, knee-cappings and punishment beatings for those who cross the godfather. I remember, during my first week as a lobby correspondent in 1996, hearing Charlie Whelan, Mr McBride's predecessor, telling another journalist that he would have “no stories for three weeks” because he had written something unhelpful to Mr Brown. I assumed he was joking. I quickly realised he was not. All the media knew this was going on as did we bloggers, the difference bloggers railed against it but the MSM connived in this corruption of democracy by allowing the destruction of the fourth estate. Examples, in 2006 this post of mine asked the following: Watching the PM at his press conference this week, facing his apparently supine and adoring co-conspirators in the complete degradation of the country, was a sickening sight that could have left few of the properly informed unashamed. Surely, all within the Westminster circle must be well aware of the depths to which this administration has sunk? The Chancellor was, very unusually, nowhere in evidence at today's PMQ. As was reported in last week's Sunday Telegraph -'Transparency International' has listed more than fifty questions regarding possible corruption that the most senior members of the present British Government should now be answering to the police. Others of the Cabinet should by now have resigned given their own proven incompetence. Where was Brown today? Redditch some say - if so WHY? What is his response to the disgusting fiasco that is his Tax Credit programme and why are the MSM burying that story? On 29th February 2008 under a blog titled "Britain's shamed media and Establishment" which concluded as follows: Britain with a silenced fourth estate and therefore under this authoritarian government on the edge of a petty tyranny; one which plans to now hand power for eternity to an even greater tyranny based somewhere upon the Continent. When Europe loses its freedoms the rest of the world is unlikely to escape unscathed. Are my contempories, as they prepare for their no doubt very comfortable retirements, really going to allow this outrage against the freedom and liberties of the European people, for which our fathers and grandfathers so bloodily fought, be secretively and treacherously destroyed in this outrageous manner? Is the two minutes or so devoted by the BBC on the Radio 4 programme this morning (the first critical mention of these proceedings) all we are to hear from Britain's state broadcaster on this outrage? It all seems to be so, and I hang my head in shame! My original blog "Ironies" is littered with complaints about the corruption of our media, the first in June 2003, this brief statement from December 2004 gives a flavour of the regular evidence my blogs have supplied "As the web in general and the blogospere in particular gets ever more informative and interesting the fourth estate gets ever more mundane..." Mundane my foot, they have connived in the destruction of their coutnry as have the silenced Conservative Party, read Boris today in the Telegraph and ask "Why only now?"

We all will have our own ideas about the main broadcaster pawns in the disgusting web of filth now proven in extraordinary detail to have emanated from Downing Street. The main New Labour propagandists in the state controlled BBC are in my mind and restricting myself to two from Radio namely John Humphreys and James Naughtie, link here, and two from TV who have to be Andrew Marr and his replacement Nick Robinson. The BBC which, since the scrapping of the Board of Governors, seems to be totally under state control should use the occasion of McBride's dismissal from Downing Street to regain independence and fire at least these four individuals:

Eastergate - Tories demand apology from Brown

After yesterdays pathetic Conservative response that the e-mails were childish, and that it was astounding that those at the centre of government had nothing better to do in the present economic crisis - the Conservative Party is finally demanding an apology from the Prime Minister himself. (Note especially for Iain Dale - there is nothing, absolutely nothing to which this Labour Government will not stoop, effective opposition requires recognition of that FACT!) How long before this BBC report is proven UNTRUE?

Downing Street and the BBC deserve one another. The following was put out by the BBC earlier this afternoon, linked here: Chaotic'

Mr McBride, a special adviser in Downing Street, was removed from his job dealing with the media on a day-to-day basis following the resignation of former Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly in September 2008.

He stayed on in Number 10, and was given responsibility for strategy and planning.

A spokesman for Downing Street said: "Neither the prime minister nor anybody else in Downing Street, except the author, knew anything about any of these private emails.

"The author of these emails has apologised for their juvenile and inappropriate nature and for the embarrassment caused.

"All staff will be reminded of the appropriate use of Number 10 resources."

Tomorrow's News of the World will have more details and according to internet reports Ian Dale, here this apology might already have been overtaken by this rapidly developing Easter weekend drama: The news that Damian McBride has resigned is welcome indeed, but it isn't the end of the matter. There are further serious questions which need to be asked, not least about the role of Tom Watson, who sat next to McBride in the Downing Street bunker and was allegedly mentioned in the emails to Derek Draper. Tom Watson is Minister for the Civil Service. What did he do when he found about these emails? Did he berate Damian McBride and tell him to stop abusing his position? No. Instead, he either tacitly or overtly encouraged McBride to send more. Is this really what the Minister for the Civil Service should be doing? He's not some Labour Party hack. He's a Minister of the Crown and responsible for the conduct of all who work in the Civil Service. I will link these posts on this subject, Eastergate!
