Treasures from the threads - Number thirty-two

Link - article not worth reading.

What I want to know is...what was Madoff's exit plan? He must have known that this scheme could not have been perpetuated. So what was the long-term plan? Did he simply plan to live the high life until caught? Did he sacrifice his own liberty in order to give billions to others? (His family? Friends?) I guess it would help if we knew where the money HAD gone. As for Brown...totally different case. He had no idea that he was running a national ponzi scheme. He was simply an incompetent, an economic lightweight out of his depth but assuming that the apparent prosperity for ten years showed that he must be a genius. I actually feel kind of sorry for the guy. The cognitive dissonance with which he must have to wrestle on a daily basis must be incredible. Imagine finding out after ten years that you are, in fact, an idiot. Mind you, I'm sure his brain isn't anywhere near accepting that yet.
