Brown and Merkel claim Tax Haven Triumph

The Leaders of Britain and Germany at a joint press conference in Downing Street are hailing as a triumph an agreement with tax haven countries such as Luxembourg, Lichenstein, Switzerland and Austria on more openness on tax matters! How this will help in the resolution of the problems of the economic CRASH beggars belief. They also are sufficiently removed from reality to still be talking of climate change - have they not yet twigged that their joint economic incompetence in the forum of the EU will cause enough de-industrialisation for all climate change forecasts to appear completely absurd in a few brief years time! The following comment to an article on the stupidity of the G20 meeting in the Independent, linked here, puts matters nicely"

Does this mean a few people are finally waking up to the fact that Gordon Brown's so-called rescue packages are actually acts of sabotage? Since the prime reasons for the current economic predicament are over-consumption and excessive debt levels in the western world, it does not take much brain power to work out that attempts to stimulate consumption and increase debt levels are acts of sabotage. On the other hand, since all leaders in the western world have been churning out the same of worn-out rhetoric for years, it is hard to imagine anything changing until an utterly catastrophic situation develops.
