The Pound and the Euro

Sterling has had a dreadful year but my statement yesterday that joining the Euro would still be the greatest single disaster that could yet afflict Britain is given more weight in an article by Ambrose Evans-Prichard in today's Daily Telegraph, linked here. More proof came on Bloomberg TV this morning when a 'currency expert' predicted a better year for the Pound against both the US Dollar and the Euro in 2009, that remains to be seen with this disastrous government and a clear suffocation of Britain's ancient democratic rights these could have far-reaching and unguessable consequences for the nation's currency. What happens at tomorrow's State Opening of Parliament will be fascinating in this respect! The just announced police review of events clearly misses the main point!
