Czech PM warns forcing pace on Lisbon could cause rejection

The pressure seems to be to defer action until after Ireland votes again but this linked article also indicates that support for the Treaty in the Czech Republic is falling. My view based solely on reading the various conflicting press reports coming from Prague is that the only hope of Lisbon being ratified in the present Czech Parliament would be by waiting for the Irish but that both opponents and those in favour of the Treaty seem to be both pinning hopes to this same strategy. Confusing and tragic that the democracy of 27 once sovereign nations should now hang in such a strange balance! Read the article in English from here.
