Sir James Crosby resigns from the FSA

Paul Moore, the former head of risk at HBOS, said that he was personally fired by Sir James Crosby, then its chief executive, after repeatedly warning that the bank was growing too fast.

Sir James was later appointed by Mr Brown as deputy chairman of the Financial Services Authority and is an adviser to the Treasury.

Most papers give prominence to the same story with varying degrees of incredulity and disgust. Helen Wright commenting on Heffer's column this morning sums it all up rather nicely for me, she writes:

All of us to blame? Including those of us without credit cards and huge loans? Including those of us who work and live hand to mouth? Even those of us who have been constantly and vocally complaining of the New Labour version of Parliament, from which a signatory of the Scottish Claim of Right rules over England and imposes Auld Enemy Policies onto his English Lab Rats? The media and English politicians can take full responsiblity for this horrendous abuse of the electorate and for the shameful Apartheid System implemented by our British Rulers - but if you expect me to carry your share of the blame - and the rest of us who work our arses off and expect nothing but what we pay for ourselves in return - then you can go swivel on Gordon's skirt hems. We will not all carry your burden of shame, when we have already been suffering enough.

Does anybody believe this statement taken from the linked The Times report: Lord Stevenson emphatically denied suggestions from one of the MPs that Mr Moore had been “subject to threatening behaviour” by the bank. He rejected Mr Moore’s allegations, saying that the bank commissioned an independent study and the matter was closed to the satisfaction of the FSA. Any who do not trust that assertion, and I suspect it will soon be shown to be false, surely will not be able to continue with Gordon Brown in Downing Street for this particular piece of filth, Sir (note that giveaway sign) James Crosby, is now a senior regulator for the ongoing wrecking activities of our demented Prime Minister. Update Crosby's business philosophy quoted in The Guardian seems the perfect description of a complete and utter A**Hole: Based in Yorkshire, the Oxford educated sports enthusiast has three daughters and claims he has never enjoyed City life. Neither does he dwell on mistakes – a lesson he has said he learned early in his career. He once said: "The ability to say, 'hey, that was wrong' and move on to the next game quickly, rather than get involved in bureaucratic processes where everybody says 'it wasn't my fault' - you learn that from fund management." (Footnote: Regarding the apology for the one-eyed slur by Jeremy Clarkson against Gordon Brown, reports of how his near complete blindness occurred and proof of his character while in government makes this observer wonder whether the old boys of his school, probably being recent departees, might not have acted with some knowledge of his inner character?)
