EU armed forces could be deployed in Britain

My thanks to Anne Palmer for bringing this matter to my notice. Anne has provided much material which requires time to carefully review but for the moment I have extracted the following from the linked material to provide proof of this posting's headline and the gravity and detail of the plans already laid. Statewatch link. Presented to Parliament by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs by Command of Her Majesty March 2009 Cm 7572 £5.50 AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION CONCERNING THE STATUS OF MILITARY AND CIVILIAN STAFF SECONDED TO THE INSTITUTIONS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, OF THE HEADQUARTERS AND FORCES WHICH MAY BE MADE AVAILABLE TO THE EUROPEAN UNION IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PREPARATION AND EXECUTION OF THE TASKS REFERRED TO IN ARTICLE 17(2) OF THE TREATY ON EUROPEAN UNION,1 INCLUDING EXERCISES, AND OF THE MILITARY AND CIVILIAN STAFF OF THE MEMBER STATES PUT AT THE DISPOSAL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION TO ACT IN THIS CONTEXT (EU SOFA) WHEREAS: (1) The European Council has decided, in pursuit of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), to give the EU the capabilities required to take and implement decisions on the full range of conflict prevention and crisis management tasks defined in the TEU. (2) National decisions to send forces from Member States of the European Union (hereinafter "Member States") into the territory of other Member States and to receive such forces from Member States in the context of the preparation and execution of the tasks referred to in Article 17(2) of the TEU, including exercises, will be taken in accordance with the provisions of Title V of the TEU, and in particular with Article 23(1) thereof, and will be the subject of separate arrangements between the Member States concerned. Foreign Office Document link AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MEMBER STATES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION CONCERNING CLAIMS INTRODUCED BY EACH MEMBER STATE AGAINST ANY OTHER MEMBER STATE FOR DAMAGE TO ANY PROPERTY OWNED, USED OR OPERATED BY IT OR INJURY OR DEATH SUFFERED BY ANY MILITARY OR CIVILIAN STAFF OF ITS SERVICES, IN THE CONTEXT OF AN EU CRISIS MANAGEMENT OPERATION The following letter was sent by Anne to the editor of the Daily Mail on 30th March but naturally enough was not published:

Dear Editor

As my true allegiance is to our Queen (Crown) and this Country I cannot possibly accept any part of the Treaty of Lisbon particularly without it being put to the people.
Should the people, in not knowing the full contents of this Treaty accept it, I cannot because I am now aware of its treacherous contents. I therefore crave protection from our Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth II. Legislation that is coming forth from the EU at present is contrary to our Constitution and "Lisbon" would of course take precedence over our Constitution. (Forever) According to R v Thistlewood 1820, to destroy the Constitution is Treason. The Treaty of Lisbon can be withdrawn providing not all 27 Countries have ratified it, and it be put to the people. Anne Palmer. Full address

Irish Referendum - NO side forges into the lead

A sudden reversal in the polls indicates many 'don't knows' as finally getting off the fence and opting for retention of democracy and independence, one of many reports, this from the Irish Times, is here. The report begins as follows:
The Lisbon Treaty is heading towards a shock defeat with the No side now in the lead, according to the findings of the latest Irish Times/TNS mrbi poll.
It will take an unprecedented swing in the last week of the campaign for the Treaty to be carried.
The poll shows the number of people intending to vote No has almost doubled to 35 per cent (up 17 points) since the last poll three weeks ago, while the number of the Yes side has declined to 30 per cent (down 5 points).
The number of undecided voters is still a significant 28 per (down 12 points) cent, while 7 per cent won’t vote.
A measure of videos on YouTube also indicate a resounding victory for the No side as reported here, a playlist for the NO side videos is linked here.  One of the scariest is here.
Widespread reports from Brussels that the question of an EU Army or permanent armed standing force consisting of troops from all nations will presumably make a positive outcome for the Treaty, in famously neutral  and anti-miliaristic Ireland, even less likely, read here.

German Foreign Minister calls for EU Army

The report is mostly from non-European agencies, this link seems the most complete. Some quotes: The merging of military capacities should in the end lead to a European Union army, Steinmeier said during a security congress of his Social Democratic Party (SPD) faction in Berlin. The SPD leader pointed out that the new EU reform treaty allowed individual EU member states to press ahead in the sphere of European foreign and defense policy. My posting of earlier today on totalitarianism is clearly of considerable importance in the House of Lords consideration of the Lisbon Treaty, and the lame duck nature of Britain's Labour Party following the split over Scottish independence clearly only easible within the EU. The British opposition's silence on the EU Reform Treaty, also highlighted on this blog earlier today is an ever growing disgrace!
