Roger Helmer resigns as an MEP!
President,
European parliament
Dear President Buzek,
Resignation from the European parliament
I write to inform you that I intend to resign my seat in the European parliament, after twelve and a half years service, effective December 31st 2011.
I understand that under our electoral rules, my place will be taken by the next-in-line from our 2009 East Midlands Conservative MEP candidate list. This will be my friend and colleague Rupert Matthews, in whom I have great confidence. I commend him to you and to the parliament, and I am sure that he will become a distinguished member of this house.
Yours sincerely,
ROGER HELMER MEP
We do not know the reasons for this resignation as yet, but all of us dedicated to the struggle against the EU, must hope that it is a late recognition that such a corrupt institution cannot be fought from the inside, let alone from the seat of many of the obscene democratic abuses that the EU Parliament represents.
In the run up to the last set of EU elections for the present Parliament, this blogger gave it as his opinion that in view of the growing economic crisis, many MEPs would regret the day they chose to stand and become elected.
If it is a growing fear of the people of Europe, rather than a recognition of the EU's ills, that has led to this resignation, then it is likely soon to be followed by many others. MEPs, who often cravenly crawl up their party's list system, in receipt of huge EU largesse in exchange for zero influence, which combine to deliver merely sham democracy and support the corrupted National Parties that have sold out their people's democracies, can soon be expected to follow Mr Helmer's example, by resigning in droves, to hide their complicity in the disaster now unfolding.
Roger Helmer deserves recognition for having the courage to lead the way, should that turn out to be the cause!
The effective date of the resignation, being this year's end, and lack of explanation on Mr Helmer's own website, tends to rule out health reasons, while leaving us all bemused as to the real motivation;
Roger Helmer, has recently been the subject of much discussion, on several blogs, most particularly Autonomous Mind and Witterings from Witney.
