Was this Democracy? The headline of the article in the London
Times demands in reporting the election of Russia's new President, Dmitri, Medvedev, without the slightest hint of embarrassment or apparent recognition of the difficulties of any in the EU asking such a question.
The truth of the matter is that if the Lisbon Treaty is ratified then other than in Switzerland, Norway and a few small states elsewhere on the continent these elections are the closest any living in Europe will get to electing their own real rulers.
European Parliament elections are a sham as that powerless body only exists to route taxpayers funds back to the leading political parties who have sold out their peoples democracy. National elections to powerless national powerless will merely serve to send powerless voting automatoms to rigged EU Council meetings.
AND what coverage does this same newspaper give to the poll of over 150,000 voters 88 per cent of whom want a referendum on the EU Reform Treaty? None that I have yet been able to find. (Update: Some coverage is
here, the
Telegraph has an editorial,
here.)
This week is important, it has started disgracefully in the UK media!
Labels: EU Reform Treaty, EU Secrecy Lisbon Treaty, Russian election
