The Referendum fight looking forward

Nick Clegg's Lib/Dems problems are covered in the Telegraph this morning, linked here.

More interesting is the report on the battle ahead in the House of Lords on the EU Referendum blog linked here, by Dr Helen Szamuely, which gives some interesting background on UKIP's Lord Pearson of Rannoch's views on the battle ahead.

Most outrageous statement of last week on the whole EU shambles must surely have been that from the man who runs a huge personal office courtesy of European taxpayers, the President of the EU Parliament and head of its biggest group the EPP still swelled by Cameron's treacherous Tories, who claims he is unable (or lacks the authority) to publish the Parliament's own report on the fraud of its members, but seeks kudos for its preparation. As it will not be made public its only conceivable use must surely be as a cudgel to force possibly difficult MEPs back into line, just the kind of bully boy tactics institutions dodging transparency and openness depend upon to survive!
