EFSF consequences of the Slovakian NO!

The EU federalist website EurActiv has commentary on the setback for the revised EFSF, linked here, from which the following is a quote:

As Radičová had promised, she turned the EFSF vote into a confidence motion, and lost. Only 55 of 124 lawmakers present voted in favour. Nine were against and 60 abstained, including members of the left-of-centre opposition Smer-SD. The ruling coalition needed at least 76 votes to approve the reform in the 150-seat Slovak parliament.

The main opposition party SMER-SD of former Prime Minister Robert Fico said it supported the EFSF, but wanted early elections. Fico even said that for his party, the ratification of the EFSF was "a priority".

A repeat of the vote is expected this week, on the basis of a political deal.

One might now expect a general election to follow, but in the EU, democracy must be thwarted at any cost, therefore it appears that regardless of the desires of the electorate, a re-run of the vot will occur, apparently achieving a guaranteed "yes vote", perhaps then followed by an election!

All this, it must be stressed, to rescue an EFSF agreement which is widely accepted as inadequate AND requires senior bond holders of Greek debt to accept a haircut in excess of the 21% they only reluctantly and belatedly formerly agreed.

The long awaited vote in the Slovakian Parliament, finally came in the early hours of this morning, and the revision to the EFSF was defeated, read here, most likely bringing down the government and causing a second vote. The EU never allows a democratic NO national vote.

Slovakia Vote on EFSF delayed - Richard Sulik

All across the EU, disenfranchised ordinary men and women, will be holding their breath, that the vote on the EFSF in the Slovakian Parliament, (now reported on Twitter, as likely to be delayed until midnight,) will finally act as a firebreak against the ever advancing, lying and corrupt policies of the European Union, which clearly only cares for its own ever-added powers for its own elites.

Time and time again, during this debate, the pro-EU government representatives have reportedly stated that in the event of a rejection of the revised EFSF, the question will be put again and again, until it is approved. Thus has the EU oppressed the people of Europe at each of its open advances, many more continue unnoticed behind the scenes without any pretence of democracy, and all too often very little legality.

Talks are due to resume imminently between the four political parties ahead of this afternoon's parliamentary vote. A General Election following a rejection of the already redundant 21st July EFSF package seems certain to follow.

Slovak PM slates EU Commissioner Ollie Rehn

Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicová discussing the Greek bailout package. Radicová is quoted in Die Welt saying, "we show solidarity and take on responsibility...but we don't want people who acted irresponsibly to get money." When commenting on EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Ollie Rehn's public criticism for not taking part in the bailout she says: "the way in which [he], a non-elected official from Brussels, spoke about the freely elected members of the Slovakian parliament was insulting. I will demand an official apology for this from Brussels during my visit to Berlin".

"Europe must not be constituted by a big brother and many satellites which have to obey the larger, more powerful and wealthier. We remember very well what it means to be a satellite...I don't want to compare, I only want to highlight that democracy also means to listen to the arguments of those who may be very small but are aware of their responsibilities", she says in FAZ. She continues: "Talk that Slovakia is acting irresponsibly must stop. To say it in all clarity: When democratically elected politicians raise criticisms they have the right to do so. But European administrators do not have this right, not at any time".

One must wonder where the Slovak parliamentarians have been hiding during recent years, are they not aware they signed democracy away with the Lisbon Treaty allowing those who like "fine messes" such as Ollie to run amok!
