Preamble to new draft Fiscal Compact carries a blatant untruth!

Britain, a Member State has notified the EU that it will not contemplate a so-called Fiscal Compact in the form of a treaty encompassing economic governance of the United Kingdom.

The second draft as a deliberate atagonistic act which has now been corrected, sought to inject the treaty into the operation of the single market as pointed out on this blog.

Now the third draft, in its preamble contains the following statement:

BEARING IN MIND that the objective of the Heads of State or Government of the euro area Member States and of other Member States of the European Union is to incorporate the provisions of this Agreement as soon as possible into the Treaties on which the European Union is founded,

The behaviour of those drafting this agreement is stepping beyond the bounds of the reasonable!

Non-EU Treaty, Fiscal Compact Third Draft

The third draft of what was called an "International Treaty etc..." has as I urged been retitled, but the new name is hardly handier let alone precise, being "TREATY ON STABILITY, COORDINATION AND GOVERNANCE IN THE ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION". --------- TOSCAGITEAMU perhaps?

It is linked here, but does not yet deserve further comment, given the pace of amendments and speed of financial disintegration with the Union to which it is supposed to eventually apply.
