EU sees Referendum only in Ireland

The EU has shown in the past that a NO from smaller countries does not matter and can be ignored. The following comes from Ireland's Sunday Business Post, linked here: Taoiseach Bertie Ahern confirmed in the Dail last week that Ireland would be the only country to hold a referendum on the new EU reform treaty if the Inter-Governmental Conference of member states accepted the treaty when it completes its work in November. Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said last week that if Ireland was the only country to have a plebiscite, ‘‘this will result in a great deal of international activity here, probably on the anti-side’’. Kenny called on the Taoiseach to ensure that the Forum on Europe was ‘‘properly resourced’’. The pressure is now all on David Cameron, Britain's Conservative Party leader, in Blackpool tomorrow, if he lacks the courage to confront the EU elite, European democracy is doomed.
