THE APPOINTMENT OF DR JOHN REID TO THIS POST IS AN AFFRONT TO THE MAJOR NATION OF THE UK! A fact that seems to have been missed in the comments of the MSM. Thirdly - although Jack Straw thoroughly deserved his demotion he was at least the sole clearly English politician in a major department. (The choice of his replacement noted for her lack of foreign nous seems quite extraordinaryand provides scant consolation as she will quickly become an international laughing stock.) The gain of Harrogate by the Lib Dems, if national considerations prevailed, shows in the North at least the sham that is David Cameron has been clearly perceived.
